A confession

So I have a confession for all of you out there in blog land. It’s patheticembarrasingsad all wrapped up in one. I spend so much time documenting other peoples lives that I RARELY (when I say rarely I mean it) document my own.  Do you know when the last photo of me and Adam was taken? August, yes people you heard me right AUGUST of last year!  I mean really how sad is that.  So a few weeks ago Adam and I took a trip to a store and purchased a point and shoot camera. I want to have tons of photos of us to show our children one day.  Even if they are boring who would ever want to sit and look at them photos at least they will know that we did exist before they were in the picture.  I am ashamed to admit that I still have let the life capturing fall to the wayside a little but I promise to pick up the slack.  I’m going to use this little ole blog to document our lives as well so you can get to know me other than who I am behind the camera.  I bet I’m just as fabulous as you ever dreamed of. HA.  Anyway, that’s my confession for the day.  Maybe I’ll come and just chat more ofter.  It’s been real kids:)!

Hillsong London in JoCo!

This past Friday night Hillsong London had their first “show” ever in North Carolina. You would expect for them to go somewhere like Charlotte or even Raleigh but instead they came to C3 Church in Clayton, NC.  C3 Church is one of the fastest growing churches in the country, it’s on a former tobacco farm.  God moves so much on that former tobacco farm and Friday night was no exception.  I’ve never in my life experienced such a moving “show”.  I use quotations around the word show b/c it’s not just about the music, they don’t call themselves famous or even claim their talent to be anything exceptional (I strongly disagree) but they instead give all of the glory and thanks to the Lord.  The band shared a message and had a time of prayer along with the amazing praise and worship music.  I was able to take photos while I was there.  Here are some of my favorites!

New Year, more blogging!

So this past weekend I went on a photography retreat with one of my best friends Julie, her sister Emmie and the lovely Kendra.  We thought it would be fun to go and just talk shop for a couple of days down in the beautiful city Wilmington, NC.  We had planned on getting out a shooting a lot but if you have been keeping up with the south you know it’s been FREEZING and that just didn’t happen. This was not for a lack of trying though, we froze and finally decided it wasn’t worth it!  We are planning another trip down this spring and I’m hoping it’ll be a little longer and we can add a few people to the trip!

So I made the decision to be a better blogger while we were on the trip.  I can’t wait to get to blogging!  You guys hold me accountable because I know I’ll cop out, me and my non compliant self!  I’m going to find some awesome stuff to blog about including monthly studio specials, maybe some of my favorite things, favorite Friday, and much more so stay tuned!

Because posts are boring without pictures here is one from the trip.

8 Years In the Making

I’ve been very absent lately, but I do have a good reason, well I think it’s a fantabulous reason.  I have finally accomplished my dream that has been 8 years in the making!  I am opening a studio in downtown Fuquay Varina.  When I started school 8 years ago this was my goal.  I was burned out after school and then I started focusing strictly on weddings so I kinda let it go for a while.  I always said if only I had a studio but I was just to afraid to take that leap of faith.  Well I was pushed into it but it’s finally complete.  I will post photo’s of the finished product soon I’ve just got to get the canvas’ in and such.  This is very exciting and I’m so thankful for everyone how helped me out to make it happen!  For now heres a peak of my first test run as a natural light studio photographer!

The lighting was provided by the 3 huge windows in the front!  I heart natural light:)!

In the blink of an eye…

Wednesday of this past week was one of those days.  I mean everything that could go wrong went wrong.  Of course nothing to bad just enough to make me whine to my husband and my friend at coffee that morning.  I bit my lip so bad it looks like a got punched in the face, Adam had some not so great stuff happen at the office, the funnel dropped into my laundry detergent (how does that even happen), and I’m sure a few more things made the list.  Then that evening right before Adam and I walked out the door for a de-stress dinner my phone rang.  It was my cousin telling me that there was an emergency with my Aunt Brenda and I needed to get to the hospital now.  In the blink of an eye all my petty crap for lack of a better word disappeared.  My aunt had a brain aneurysm and wasn’t expected to make it.  We stayed at the hospital for a while and went back the next day around lunch.  Almost exactly 24 hours after I got the call she was gone.

This week my family and this world lost a wonderful woman of God.  She was a wife, mother, aunt, and friend to so many people.  She loved beach music, she loved to shag, she loved a good time, and she loved loved loved her family and friends.  She will be missed my so many people, her funeral showed that.  There were tears and there was laughter because like I said she loved a good time.  I hope to be half the woman she was.

Brenda you will be greatly missed, we love you and always will.  I know you are smiling down from heaven.

Snow Day!

When I was younger I was in chorus.  There was this song we sang during our winter show that was about waking up to a snow filled yard.  I think it went something like “there’s no school tomorrow, no school tomorrow, no school tomorrow if it snows!”  Yesterday for the first time in years we woke up to white everywhere!  Of course I don’t go to school anyways so that song doesn’t apply but I was singing it in my head all day long.  Adam and I braved the snow and I only took my Iphone b/c it was still snowing.  I was going to go back out with my camera but seeing that walking against the snow and wind for 10 minutes I got wind burnt to the point of a rash on my face, I opted not to go back out.  Here are some of my Iphone shots.  Yes I know if your from the north this is nothing new but hey this is NC we never get snow!

Today was Sophie’s 2nd b-day party.  It was just a small family get together but she was adorable as always.  I got a few photo’s of her and her cake that are just too cute!  I’m going to keep this post short a sweet because I’m exhausted, probably because I’m getting old!  I hope everyone has a great day off tomorrow, I’m going to have a birthday lunch with my mom.  Adam has to work, he should have taken the day off it’s 2 holidays for him…I’ll post tomorrow about my birthday celebration!
