Better Than A Cake Walk and Citizen of the Month Combined!

I don’t win things.  I was never homecoming queen or prom queen, I can’t even win a scratch off lottery ticket (not even $5.00).  In elementary school I won Citizen of the month, twice and a cake walk like 4 times at one event.  Those two things have been my only claim to winning in my twenty some years on this earth.

When I started working on my booth for the Forever Bridal Wedding Show in April I was a woman on a mission.  I wanted it to be the best booth there.  I’m serious.  I started planning that baby in February.  I made many trips to the local flea market and spent hour upon hour painting furniture with the help of Adam.  Well I’m happy to say all of my hard work payed off, I won the Vendor’s Choice award for best booth in show!  I know that to a lot of you think it’s not a big deal but I was very proud to receive this honor from all of my peers!  Plus I had to give a shout out to Forever Bridal for putting on such a wonderful production year after year!  So I’m done bragging on my awesome booth award.  I forgot my camera so I don’t have any photo’s right now but I’m working on it.  Until them here’s the trophy!

A reason to keep on keepin’ on…

I know I’m not alone here, I think everyone in every career has weeks and maybe even months when they doubt their ability.  I love photography with all of my heart but the business side of things, not my cup of tea!  Latley I feel like it’s been harder than usual, maybe it’s just the need for a summer vacation (it has been 2 years) or maybe it’s just that I’m right brained to the bazillionth degree.

Today when I was doing some final edits on a wedding I ran across a photo that helped me remember why it’s worth it, even the evil business side of it!  I mean to be able to capture moments between a husband and a wife or even 2 friends like it the photo below is such an amazing gift to my soul!  I mean how many people have jobs where they do something like that? Not many.  So a moment like the one below will be forever remembered by two close friends, it’s amazing.  Instead of being my normal stressed out self I should stop and thank God for the incredible career he has given me!

Stay tuned because I am waaaaaaaaay behind on blog posts!  (it’s that pesky business side of things again!)

Meredith & Parker ~ Wedding!

Oh my where do I even begin? This wedding was amazing. I knew from the day I met with Meredith it was going to be beautiful. A beautiful bride and a phenomenal venue, it doesn’t get any better than that! Meredith and Parker were married at the Berry Hill Estate in South Boston, VA. I hope that I get to shoot there again one day because I still have a trillion ideas for great shots! If you don’t have a venue I highly recommend this place! It rained on their wedding but never enough to stop us from being outside! I mean goodness knows I’m not sweet enough to melt! Anyways here’s their massive post, I had a really hard time picking out a few so I just picked out a ton! I’ll be posting a slide show soon.

I couldn’t decide which bouquet photo was my favorite, which one is yours?

Session last week.  I’m running a little behind and am a little slack with the images so I apologize and promise to post more from this rockin’ couple after their wedding!

Sarah & Cameron ~ Wedding ~ Raleigh Wedding Photographer

Finally I’m getting around to posting this beautiful wedding! I usually don’t have a ton to write on my blogs but on this one I thought I would post the poem they had read during their ceremony b/c it was so darn cute…so here it is!

Falling in love is like owning a dog
an epithalamion by Taylor Mali
www.taylormali.com

First of all, it’s a big responsibility,
especially in a city like New York.
So think long and hard before deciding on love.
On the other hand, love gives you a sense of security:
when you’re walking down the street late at night
and you have a leash on love
ain’t no one going to mess with you.
Because crooks and muggers think love is unpredictable.
Who knows what love could do in its own defense?

On cold winter nights, love is warm.
It lies between you and lives and breathes
and makes funny noises.
Love wakes you up all hours of the night with its needs.
It needs to be fed so it will grow and stay healthy.

Love doesn’t like being left alone for long.
But come home and love is always happy to see you.
It may break a few things accidentally in its passion for life,
but you can never be mad at love for long.

Is love good all the time? No! No!
Love can be bad. Bad, love, bad! Very bad love.

Love makes messes.
Love leaves you little surprises here and there.
Love needs lots of cleaning up after.
Sometimes you just want to get love fixed.
Sometimes you want to roll up a piece of newspaper
and swat love on the nose,
not so much to cause pain,
just to let love know Don’t you ever do that again!

Sometimes love just wants to go for a nice long walk.
Because love loves exercise.
It runs you around the block and leaves you panting.
It pulls you in several different directions at once,
or winds around and around you
until you’re all wound up and can’t move.

But love makes you meet people wherever you go.
People who have nothing in common but love
stop and talk to each other on the street.

Throw things away and love will bring them back,
again, and again, and again.
But most of all, love needs love, lots of it.
And in return, love loves you and never stops.

And now to the photo’s!

Sarah and Cameron ~ Sneak Peak

Oh my what a beautiful wedding this was.  I’m going to post the rest on Monday when I get back in town.  I’ll be away from home this weekend for a super fab wedding.   Boy do I wish there were more hours in a day, I didn’t get half of what I needed to do done tonight.  Hopefully I’ll make it to VA in one piece tomorrow!  Here is a sneak peak.

I love how they are framed and the old school feel!
